I’ve been experimenting with sheer, so when I saw this Seychelles outfit, I had to try it out. With both the top and bottom incorporating a bit of sheerness, it’s definitely more risque than I’m normally comfortable with. The leggings are just so different I love it!

As always, I love the comfort of their designs. This top is super fun and definitely allows for wearing a showy sports bra underneath. When I’m at home, this is a great one to lounge in that offers a little more warmth than a tank top. I like how there’s a little zipper pocket to stick your keys in. The sheer back works nicely to show a bit of skin without totally exposing the back. Love it! Retail value for this is listed as $29.95.

Such a unique design with the use of mesh here. I enjoy the look and feel of these. It’s kind of my little secret, but then people might get a glimpse and wonder if they just saw that right. I do feel like these fit a bit tighter since it’s less elastic all around. They’re almost like compression pants. Totally cute and great to wear out to be different without screaming different. The listed retail value for this is $49.95.

This outfit is another hit with me and I’ve enjoyed wearing both articles multiple times now. This whole sheer thing is still something I’m new to, but I’ve been liking it so far. Try out an outfit for yourself! Sign up for Fabletics to get your first outfit for just $25.

Fabletics Temps Outfit (Omemee Tank + Salar Capri) review

So I had some credit sitting around in my account and I wanted to redeem an outfit with those points. I ended up coming across the Temps outfit and going for it. I figured I could use another top that also works for casual wear and an extra pair of capris to round it out.

Omemee Tank in Pink Grapefruit Heather

This tank is all at once casual yet dressy. While it’s not dressed up exactly, the look and feel of it is fancier than most tanks. I enjoy the asymmetry that gives it more character! The built-in bra makes it an easy choice to throw on whenever. Perfect for hanging out in at home or running errands. I like how much freedom the shoulder blades get in this one, so no amount of sun salutations would affect the back. I definitely like these types of tops for my yoga practice. Retail value for this is listed as $34.95.

Salar Capri in Pink Grapefruit Stripe

I was really hoping this shade would be vastly different from the Salar leggings I have. Turns out it’s pretty much the same, so now I have them in legging and capri styles. I’m not too sure how this works for me, but I’ll keep it around and see if I find myself wearing capris more. I do like the new mesh being used for the hidden pocket. It’s a fun little detail that I certainly appreciate. I kind of wish they had another color I liked in my size when I chose my outfit. Listed retail value for this is $39.95.

This outfit was very grapefruit-y! I love the top and I’ll probably use the bottoms, though maybe I’ll try to trade them. Most likely I will just wear them around the house on weekends. Interested in trying an outfit too? Sign up for Fabletics to get your first outfit for just $25!

Fabletics Portico Outfit (Aventura poncho + Salar legging + headband) review

It had been awhile since I’d gotten Fabletics so I decided to take a look. I knew I was interested in some sort of outerwear, like a casual sweatshirt. When I came across, the Aventura poncho, I couldn’t resist. I was going to get it alone originally, but didn’t want to pay shipping so I decided to spring for the whole outfit. I’m really glad I did since the leggings turned out to be my new favorite pair!

Aventura Poncho in Charcoal Heather

This is such a fun piece to have. I like how it just drapes over your shoulders and provides warmth over any top. The terrycloth fabric makes it nice and warm and the generous hoodie size makes it easy to cover your head completely even with a ponytail. Snap buttons on either side ensure your warms stay in place, or unsnap them for a flowier fit. I like to half unzip the half-zip front, but find that the weight of the hood will often drag the zipper up towards my neck. I wish the front was weighted a little more so I didn’t feel my throat getting covered all the time, but otherwise I love it. The retail value on this is listed as $44.95.

Salar Legging in Flame Orange

These leggings were absolutely worth it and the most comfortable pair I own! I was surprised because I wasn’t even going to get it in the first place, thinking it was more of a cloth-like texture based on the pictures. Turns out it’s far more silky smooth (blend of polyester and spandex) and oh so soft. The color is fantastic too! As with all the other leggings, you get a little secret pocket for a key or card. They offer maximum support, for a nice firm fit. Retail value’s listed as $49.95.

Headband in Ultra Lemon

The headband in this outfit was really just an extra item to me. I don’t usually use headbands, except when washing my face. I wanted the color that matched the leggings, but of course they were sold out so I ended up with these, which happen to match the first sports bra I got. It holds well even on my slippery hair and I’ll certainly keep it around for when I do decide to use a headband. Its retail value is listed as $4.95.

I’m pleased with this outfit, though I would have loved to have gotten it at the $50 price point (it cost me close to $70). Still, if I count both top and bottom at $35 a piece, not even factoring in the headband, I think it was a good value. Not great, but good, especially for the unique items I got and how much I’m enjoying them. I even got complimented on my style when I wore the poncho with the leggings last week! Thanks Fabletics for making me appear fashionable. 😉

I’m really excited now because I’ve officially earned enough points to get a free outfit credit! Nothing caught my eye this month, but I’m really looking forward to redeeming that free outfit soon…

Fabletics Sashay Outfit (Versital T top + Lille sports bra + Mahe running shorts) review

Once again it was the sports bra that drew me in for this outfit. I actually saw it in the white and peoni in an email, liked the shape, and was thrilled to find it came in black and purple (or sage, as they call it). Before I even looked at the February outfits that had been picked out for my profile, I came across this Sashay outfit and wanted it. Not only did it have the sports bra I wanted, each piece has my favorite color. Imagine my surprise when it was one of the three outfits chosen for me to pick from that month! I just had to get it.

Mahe Run Short in Purple Sage

Let’s start with the bottoms this time! I like these running shorts because they have the built-in brief short liner. That way, when the outer layer hikes up, you have an inner layer that stays put. These are a loose fit and have a comfortable waistband with drawstring. There’s a tiny little hidden pocket for a key – I don’t think an ID card would fit. Retail value for this pair is listed as $29.95.

Compared to the Lorida V-Neck from my last outfit, this shirt is much more lightweight and thin. It’s a very relaxed fit super breathable. The material is slightly see-through at times (so make sure you wear a cute sports bra underneath!). It’s nice and long the way I like it – I hate having shirts that leave a gap around your midsection. Its retail value is listed as $19.95.

collage of front and back of fabletics lille sports bra in black and purple sage

Lille Sports Bra in Black (and Purple Sage)

The Lille sports bra is much more supportive than many of the other designs Fabletics offers. It even offers removable cups for full coverage. I like the contrast of mesh against the plain background and the double set of straps. This one is great to wear on its own since it has cups and you don’t have to worry about anything showing. The retail value on this is listed as $24.95.

I love this little running outfit even though I don’t really like running. I’ve used the tops for my weight training and I’ll incorporate the shorts too once it warms up again. I absolutely love the whole black and purple theme of it.

Fabletics Emanate Outfit (Lorida v-neck top + Vaasa sports bra + Lima capri) + Asaro legging review

So a long time ago I meant to review the outfit that Panda got for me, but when I was finally getting around to it I realized I didn’t have the right bottoms. I had him contact Fabletics and they sent the correct ones, so now I have both to compare. I think I’m just going to have to send the capris back since I ultimately like the leggings more. I chose this outfit because of the fun sports bra, which was such a unique design. I went bold with bright lime green on my tops!

One thing to note – according to the order, this is the Emanate outfit, but I also found the Elevate outfit that is the exact same… so I think they changed the name from Emanate to Elevate.

Lorida V-Neck Top in Ultra Lemon Heather

Oh what a soooft top! Buttery soft? Absolutely. It’s wonderfully smooth and feels fantastic. It is moisture-wicking to keep you dry from perspiration. It does hike up on the shoulders if you’re lifting your arms a lot in your workout. Retail value on this is listed as $29.95.

Vaasa Sport Bra in Ultra Lemon

This sports bra provides medium bust support and does not have extra padding. It is super lightweight and fits snugly. I just love the criss-cross straps that keep it secure on your back. Its retail value is listed as $19.95.

collage of front, back, and hidden pocket of fabletics lima capri in black

Lima Capri in Black

These are the capris I was supposed to receive. I found that I’m not that into capris since my feet get cold easily. I also have thick legs so they’re kind of tight on my calves and I don’t feel like I get enough circulation. These offer maximum support, which explains why they’re pretty tight. As with all the other Fabletics bottoms I’ve seen, they include a hidden pocket on the right hip. Retail value is listed as $39.95.

collage of front, length, and hidden pocket of fabletics asaro legging in black

Asaro Legging in Black

And these are the leggings that originally came with my outfit. I didn’t even realize they were the wrong product until I was coming to review them for a post! Turns out I like them better, so I plan on keeping these in lieu of the capris. As you can see these go the opposite way and are super long. I like the random seam that wraps around the leg. It offers medium support so it’s more comfortable for me. The retail value on these are listed as $49.95.

Funny how I ended up liking the mistaken product more than the intended one, eh? The Asaro legging is more silky feeling than the Nadi legging I got in my first outfit, which is more cotton-y. I love how long the legs are and I love the comfort of the Lorida shirt. I tend to prefer v-necks and it’s long enough that I don’t have to worry when I lift my arms. And the whole reason I wanted this outfit in the first place was that super cool sports bra! I can’t remember the last time I owned a sports bra, so it’s fantastic to have one for working out in.

365great Day 327: Fabletics

365great day 327: fableticsI’ve really been enjoying wearing athletic wear while working out. It all started when I came across Fabletics a few weeks ago and was intrigued enough to give it a try. I thought one outfit would be enough, but as it turns out, I’m a little hooked. I used to work out in a t-shirt and some sort of loose pants, yoga pants, or basketball shorts, but now that I have leggings and sports bras and other such workout gear, I’m having a lot of fun. In fact, I’ve already ordered a third Fabletics outfit (read about my first outfit here – review for the second one coming soon). After all, I don’t want to be wearing the same outfit every time I work out! And just look at the cool designs they have. The cost of my new clothes has been very reasonable and they’re all very soft, stretchy, and super comfy. I like how they fit and feel. This is one great subscription I didn’t think I’d use as much as I have!

365great Day 321: strength

365great day 321: strengthI love feeling strong (and being strong). It’s rewarding when I can surprise people with how strong I am and what I’m capable of. Growing up, I was pretty good at picking up athletic skills. I sprinted well, climbed most things, and learned to swim with little effort. I remember back in 8th or 9th grade when I could do the flexed arm hang for ages. One of my favorite parts of track practice was when we did weights. Cardio has never been my thing. As a voracious reader, I learned to carry 30+ books to the car on a weekly basis. As a good Chinese kid, I always helped my mom carry most of the groceries in the house. My personal challenge was to do it all in one trip, which usually meant a good 5 bags per hand. When I went back to China for a year in 3rd grade, I was able to outrun even the 6th graders. In more recent years I just like the confidence I get when I can do something that people doubt my body is capable of, like carrying my 6-foot something friend pictured here. I’d rather be able to do that than run a marathon, personally. I think it also gives me more confidence to travel alone, since people never think I can hit/punch/kick as hard as I can, so I can surprise them if I needed to defend myself. One thing I love about yoga is that it builds my strength. My favorite pose? Plank! And overall I think your body just feels better when you’re strong, which is a great way to live.

365great Day 224: yoga

365great challenge day 224: yogaFor the longest time I meant to take yoga classes and when I finally did, it did not disappoint. It’s amazing how something so simple, slow, and low-key could work you out so well. Yoga builds strength while somehow making you more limber. You can practice it just about anywhere and when you’ve gotten good you can do all kinds of cool poses like this one my friend’s holding. Yoga is also very much about your mind and I’ve always found it to be a peaceful activity that is relaxing yet rejuvenating. Through precise, controlled movements and deep, careful breaths, I manage to improve a bit each time. I can get a great workout in without ever breaking a sweat!

Learn more about 365great here.

365great challenge day 171: vitalityWhile traveling through the UK, Panda and I often found ourselves with a bit of a challenging task getting around. We’d only resort to taxis if there was no other way, so that meant a lot of walking to get from hotels to stations with our luggage. For the most part we did a good job, getting hotels very close to a station, but with Edinburgh we got a bit confused and accidentally booked a train ticket into Waverly Station, but a hotel near Haymarket. Upon arrival, we had a choice: walk the 1.2 miles or get train tickets for the next station over. At first I figured we’d just get tickets but Panda got ambitious and decided we should walk it. After all, we’re now pros at walking extensively throughout these cities – what’s another mile? And so we braved the fierce wind and chilly night to make it to our hotel. It feels invigorating to be able to do things like this and not have to worry about poor health or physical ailments or just plain weakness getting in the way. I treasure the health we have now and the strength and endurance our bodies are capable of. As we age, I’m sure we’ll be more and more spoiled by services like cab drives and bell hops. Until then, I love that we can do these things and not even be out of breath.  What a great feeling!

A new career? :-P

Haha, check me out doing aerial acrobatics on ribbons! It was fun and tiring.
