Ngong Ping is a nice little (fake) village up in the mountains of Hong Kong. The town center is a tourist’s dream, with shops, food, and even a tea house. As far as I can see it’s kind of like Disneyland though – completely constructed for tourists and not actually lived in. However, if you go outside this main area, you’ll find some real people along the way to the temple and the Buddha way up high.

What’s it take to dock a small boat? One strong person with a long metal hook, apparently.

Taking a cable car up to Ngong Ping village, with others whizzing by, the air flowing through, planes taking off in the distance, and finally, a view of the Buddha. Check out other videos from my Ngong Ping visit.

Coming down from a visit to Ngong Ping Village, I wasn’t sure the bus would make it at times.

Check out these awesome little flying fish! These were doing what they could to stay ahead of our boat.

Those shiny flecks are all flying fish – swarms of them! There must be thousands there.

I find there’s something fascinating about watching planes land at an airport. Whether it’s from underneath them, at the terminal, or inside them, there’s always an interesting perspective to be had. In fact, one of these days I wouldn’t mind sitting somewhere near the airport, watching the planes come in. The ones coming into the Hong Kong airport were filing in at a steady rate and it was cool to watch as they appeared in the distance, just a little speck, and slowly got larger and closer.

It’s been a long 3 1/2 days, so here’s a quick video post. When I went up to Ngong Ping Village in Hong Kong, I was walking over to the temple when I came across this bull grazing. He was SO close – the video doesn’t do it justice. I was intimidated and very watchful of him, in case he decided to run one of us over. But hey, it seems he’s really into his food.
