Prospurly February 2016 review

So about a month ago, I got an email that Escape Monthly was going out of business. I’m glad that I found Prospurly before that happened, because it helps make that loss a little easier. I’ll miss that box, but this one is my new fav.

Prospurly is just under $45 per box (with code for 10% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with artisan foods, bath & body items, home products, and other sustainably crafted items. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you free boxes.

Acanela Shashi India spice blend – Well isn’t it interesting that I got this when I recently received it in the last Escape Monthly box! I’ll probably share with a friend since it’ll take me forever just to use the original one I got.

Sakari Botanicals Rosehip lip butter – Adorable. The sliding lid is fun to use and there’s something about savoring the moment of letting the lip butter melt and then rubbing it on your lips that makes this an experience. A nice light layer has kept my lips well-hydrated and I really like this. I don’t smell a scent to it, so it must be really light.

Sacred Summit Herbal Chocolates Midnight Maca – Whoa! There are all kinds of cool flakes on this bar, which was totally unexpected. There are bits of coconut and cacao nibs and the bar itself is super soft and melty. I’ve never had maca before and this bar has a sweetness that is very warm. It’s strangely addicting.

Skin Nutrition from nature with love ancient bath milk – This is delightful! It smells milky and herbal all at once, which I’m sure will be good for my skin. Plus there’s clay, oatmeal, salt… it makes me want to take a bath, pronto. I love that they made a special blend just for Prospurly. I thought the brand name looked familiar and it turns out we got some other items from them in a previous box. I’m just about done with the lotion that I had received!

Sakari Botanicals Wild Rose Cedar salve – This salve is perfect for winter and absorbs so well after a few minutes. It takes some pressure to break it and speed up the melting process. Then I just slather it on and enjoy soft skin.

Lexy Olivia watercolor cards – I thought these cards were ones that opened, but they’re like name cards. They make for really cute artwork. They really seem to include cards pretty often in these boxes. I hope they branch out into things like this that are on household items like coasters or hand towels. That way I can use them and have cool-looking stuff!

Wax & Wick Cedar + Vanilla soy candle – What a cool candle!! Not only does it smell deliciously sweet, but it has a wood wick. I’ve never seen that before and I can’t wait to try it out to see how it burns. This might be my newest addiction. I love when people rethink something we’re used to and try a different approach.

Again, I’m having a lot of fun exploring these artisan brands. I can’t wait to use them all and see what comes next. What do you think of these products?

Petit Vour September 2014 review

Looks like they teamed up with Logical Harmony again (see last time) for this month’s selections. They also updated the look of their box! Not only is the color different, but the box is slightly taller and less wide than before.

Petit Vour is $15 per box (or as much as $30 for international subscribers) and comes with vegan beauty, skincare, and other personal care products. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you points towards free boxes (email contact@petitvour.com to say I referred you if you sign up!).

The box looks a little different now, with a darker shade of pink.

Root Science Skincare Facial Moisturizer – Whoa, I did not expect this to be an oil. Is that a new thing? Seems to be pretty popular nowadays. I don’t think I’d go out in the day with a moisturizer like this, but at night it’s a wonderfully healing option. This one has a somewhat nutty, lightly herbal smell. I love how rubbing in oil warms up my face.

Lily Lolo Mineral Eye Shadow in Mudpie – I wish I was into eye shadows, because I’m getting quite the collection of them. This will be going up for trade soon. I don’t think I would have used a color like this even if I did apply eye shadow. It’s so dark! I do like the branding though and I’d love to try something of theirs eventually. I really wish they would have chosen some other type of product since they already included eye shadows from this brand before.

ellovi tinted lip butter – I would have been more excited about this if I hadn’t received the lip butter from this brand in another box. Not counting that, this is a great product that I’m glad to have. I’m glad that I got the tinted version from them, so now I have both the plain and tinted ones to use! I’m a fan of tinted lip balms since it helps add a bit of color to my lips without being obvious and they’re very hydrating too.

Yarok Leave-In Conditioner – Looove this! My hair has never stayed silky for so long and had so much smoother ends. I sprayed some on after showering and let my hair air dry as I always do. It had great results and it smells good too, kind of lemongrassy I think.

Another great box with some really quality products that I look forward to using. I’ll be trading one item, but definitely using the others. Which products did you like best?

Petit Vour August 2014 review

Time for Beauty 101 this month. I could have used a bit of help with the eye pencil and face cleanser/mask. The tips that were included on the card were nice!

Beauty Without Cruelty Natural Mineral Eye Defining Pencil in Black – I don’t really know how to use this. It applies well on my hand, but when I try to use it on my eyes, I can’t seem to get it to make a mark. Perhaps it’s that outer layer being all new and stuff? The point was super sharp and now that I’ve dulled it a little, it’s a bit softer but still not coming off easily.

Earth Body Brighten Cleanser & Mask for Age Defense – This is cool! I like the powder form that allows you to get more bang for the amount. In that sense, it’s a really generous sample. It smells earthy, a bit like clay and herbs. I tried mixing it with water in my palm, but found applying it to my face after wasn’t so easy. Next time I’ll try wetting my face and rubbing a bit of the powder on. It feels nice and my skin is so soft after that!

Harvey Prince fragrance in Journey – Wow, they sure like this brand. This is already the third time they’ve been included. I’m not a fan of this scent – it’s too strong for my preferences. It does smell rather exotic and is a great blend of spices and flowery tones. I wouldn’t wear this kind of fragrance so I’ll be trading it.

Mi-Me Tangerine Hydrating Lip Butter – What adorable packaging. The lip balm tube fits perfectly into a little test tube. This is truly a lip butter that just melts onto your lips and is so soft and hydrating like no other. The tangerine scent is wonderful and I like that this is just the kind of item I can keep with me to always save me from chapped lips.

Rosemira Organics Sweet Coconut Body Butter – Hmm, this is a really small sample size, especially for a body butter. I could understand if it was for the face, but this would not really give me more than a use or two for my body. It’s super buttery and a little does go a long way, but what a tiny container! It’s funny, I don’t smell the coconut part but the sweetness and citrus-y scent makes it through. I do enjoy the scent a lot.

I only plan on trading one item this time and I’m glad to see five items again, even if one sample was way small. The variety of items is always nice. What items do you find most intriguing?
