Spiral cutting

We got an Amazon Prime trial this weekend, so I’ve immersed myself in taking advantage of that before it expires. That means tonight I’ll just share a quick video. I love machines that cut, slice, dice, and otherwise make food more manageable and fun. This one doe a spiral cut on potatoes, which I totally want! I also want the spiralizer that’s supposed to make zucchini noodles or something like that. Yum.

Work overload

Sooo I totally overestimated my ability to pump out work and I agreed to get something done today that really should take me 2-3 days to complete. I’ve been working all night, with some distractions slowing me down (dinner, news, packing). I was going to review the Yuzen winter box today, but instead I’ll leave you with a preview of the video of the unboxing that I did for them. Props to my awesome friend King/Queen for doing the editing! We make a pretty great team. 🙂 Be sure to check out the full video on Yuzen’s YouTube channel (it should be posted in a few days) and also find the other videos we’ve created for Yuzen.

Missy and Molly

In honor of National Cat Day yesterday, I thought I’d share some videos of my kitties. Missy is my sweet baby who sleeps with me at night, massages her boyfriend Rupert the giant bear, and has a crackly little meow. Molly is our old grumpy one who loves my mom, has no patience for me, and might possibly be bipolar.

This is how Missy chills:

This is how Missy meows (adorable!! it’s like her first time every time):

Here’s Missy massaging Rupert’s leg:

Here’s Molly rubbing the chair she loves:

And finally, with Molly not letting Missy eat near her, I decided to intervene:

It’s always interesting in the house with these two around! I miss playing with them daily.

I miss having cats around the house and I’m looking forward to when I can again. For now, I’ll have to just enjoy videos of my quirky Missy, who is always getting into and on things.

Gogobot Tron Party!

Another great event hosted by Gogobot – I mean, a Tron-themed beer pong and pool tournament?! Lol how do they come up with these things? It’s amazing. I’m sooo glad I got involved with this community.

Before I talk about the event, let me digress briefly. That night I realized something – that I can be super wacky/weird/fun when it comes to social events like this, but then all that personality gets lost when I write. So from now on I’m going to try to make an effort to be a little less boring and a little more crazy (in a good way). Oh, now that I think of it, I actually realized one more thing: people often get the wrong [early] impression of me. For example, one of my really good friends from college thought I was a sorority girl when he first met me. He was SO wrong. At this Gogobot party, one guy told me he thought my family’s rich (we just manage our money well) and another guy guessed that I shop at Hollister (never been actually).

Now on to the event:

Lyft was sponsoring rides to the event and I would have loved to have been able to try out their service, but I live over 40 miles away. Perhaps another time! I’d never been to Busby’s East before and I was glad that I could find parking easily. I found the party in the room with the pool tables and proceeded to put together my awesome glow-in-the-dark baseball cap. I just happened to get some glow sticks similar to puddle jumper toys as well, which I added as a propeller to my hat. Throw on some glasses and my nerd look was complete. Maybe I didn’t look all that Tron, but I sure did have fun!

I loved his dancing! So entertaining. He refused to stay still and show his face so I got what I could.

Been awhile since I did a video post! Do you even watch them? I hope so.

Here I’ve compiled a few videos I took at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Really fun place to visit! Dolphins are so smart and playful.

Traffic gaps & freeway weaving

laelene Posted in general blog, video blog,Tags: , , , , , , ,

Have you ever been driving down the freeway when it’s not too crowded and traffic is just rushing on by when suddenly you find yourself alone? There’s a cluster of lights up ahead maybe a mile or so and another behind you about the same distance away. I love it when I get in a situation like that – I’m away from the crowds and it’s just me and the road (until either I catch up to the cluster in front or get bombarded by the cluster behind).

It’s times like that that I want to weave back and forth like those highway patrol vehicles that do so to slow down traffic. I was actually caught behind one of those for a few miles recently and we even ended up at a dead stop for awhile (see videos below). Maybe there was debris on the road that needed to be cleared? I couldn’t tell because I was about 5 cars behind and there were too many red lights in my way to see. Luckily, it wasn’t like that one time I got stuck for two hours on the 405. This barely lasted three minutes and we were on our way again, rushing off into empty expanse ahead.

I wonder if you’re ever allowed to ride along when the highway patrol is doing that, because I’ve always wanted to. I mean, when else do you get to weave back and forth on the freeway without getting in trouble? And it’s gotta be fun to see all traffic yielding to you, crawling along as they wait to see if you’re bringing them to a stop or just slowing down the speed of traffic. Then when you’re done with your task, you turn off your flashing lights and race off to the next thing as the cars behind finally get to continue on their way.

Cutting through clouds

I love looking up at the sky. I especially enjoy looking whenever I heard something flying by. This time, the plane weaved in and out of the thick clouds as I followed its sound. I can be entertained for ages like that.
