I’m not generally into seeds or nuts, but when it comes to watermelon seeds, I can’t resist. They’re super salty and flavorful, which is exactly how I like my food. The cracking experience is fun – I get to perfect my technique (a straight crack down the middle takes skill) and it forces me to not eat too fast. Plus, since it’s so salty, your tongue and lips start to get sensitive after awhile, so it’s much harder (and rather painful) to push the limit. Of course mostly I love it for the taste itself: the salty exterior and the more mild interior. I could go through handfuls of the stuff before I need a break. They taste so great!
