We went for the steak first and I found that I really like roasted tomatoes!

Tons of herbs and drizzles of oil in this.

Delicious final product that I quite enjoyed.

Then it was time to try a recipe by Emeril.

Pretty simple meal with minimal ingredients, but a bunch of flavors.

I like fish and rice, so this was good. I probably would try more veggies though.

Finally, it was tortilla soup time. I’m a fan of soup and the taste of chunks of avocado inside.

Soup is fun since you get to throw a bunch of things in the pot. Forgot to take a picture of the final product, which was a little more watery than I would have wanted.

Apparently there’s a show so that’s why one of the recipes was Emeril’s.

All in all, solid dishes that I’d tweak a little do my own thing with. I’ve already done more roasted tomatoes, since they’re so simple and I quite enjoyed that.

A walk around Macau

Last year, when Panda and I went to Hong Kong, we also got a chance to swing by Macau! His mom had spent some time there as a child, so it was pretty special. I don’t remember much from the time I went myself, so it was good to visit again. Check out some of the random things we saw, starting with some guys feeding the sea creatures at the MGM Macau. I want to do that!!!

Over at the Wynn, we watched a random show about the Tree of Life. The ceiling opened up, a tree came out of the ground, and there was some epic music. After some storytelling, the tree went back down and the ceiling closed up again… I vaguely remember seeing this the first time I was there.

And I got to witness a lady making treats! It’s like a crepe cookie wrapped with dried pork and seaweed. What a strange combo.

365great Day 278: fish spas

365great challenge day 278: fish spasWhen I was traveling in Thailand, I found a fish spa to go try. I’d started to hear of them while working in Singapore, but they were generally too pricey for my taste. Then I found this one at their night market and I just had to give it a go. These little fish nibble at your skin and eat the dead skin cells. It’s a bizarre experience, all those little mouths pecking at you. At first it was very ticklish and I had to take my feet out a few times from the over-sensitivity. Once I got used to it, it was a hoot. These spas are supposed to leave your skin softer since the dead skin cells are removed. I certainly felt like my feet were softer, but that could have just been from soaking in the water. Either way, it was a really fun time – odd, but great and I think everyone should at least try it once.

365great challenge day 103: betta fishThese fish make some pretty awesome pets. They’re gorgeous (well, the male ones at least) and so much fun to watch. You just have to be careful not to put males together or even in tanks near each other since they’re known to fight to the death and sometimes go as far as jumping out of the tanks to reach the “enemy” – I definitely had one jump out of its bowl on me! I got this special tank just for them, which has a partition to keep them apart and a lid so I can ensure they don’t jump out. Look at how beautiful they are! Definitely my favorite fish and they’re so accessible too. They’re a way to liven up a space, literally! Absolutely great. 🙂

Fish sports

I had some bread for the fish and when some chunks were just too hard to break down I gave up and threw them in whole. The fish kept nudging this one and nibbling bit by bit as it softened. Looked like a game of ball! Fish-ball!

If you look closely, you can see a bunch of teeny little fish swimming around! They look like minnows that belong in a creek.
