Inclement weather

December 29th, 10 PM. My dad and have been waiting at JFK for two hours, wondering if we can get on the last flight to LA that night. The recent blizzard that swept through the area left many passengers stuck in the airport for days. Thankfully, we were lucky enough to get seats so I wouldn’t have to spend my birthday in the airport!

JFK has a lounge sort of area with lots of iPads for people to play games on. Pretty nifty.

With tons of people stranded in the airport, there were some cots laid out for people to use.

The snow was piling a good 10 feet high as they cleared the runways!

It snowed at least two feet right there. I sort of miss this weather.

This is as far south as you can get in the US! Cuba's just beyond the horizon.

Just chillin' with my new friend, the pelican. 🙂

Grab those dinky red and blue 3D glasses you got as a kid and take a look at these shots!  Best viewed by clicking on the photos for the full size.  Then check out the artist, Stuart Sperling!

3D TVs might be all the rage now, but this 3D art is so much cooler.

Walk right into this one.

This one was my favorite because you feel like you can crawl right through that hole to the other side.

Those 3D TVs are all the rage, so I test one out in Caesar's Palace. Since there's a Dior store behind me, it kind of looks like I'm advertising for them though.

New Year’s Eve gathering

My parents and I went to a gathering of some family friends down in Newport today to celebrate the upcoming year. There were six of us “kids” (the under 30s) and we had fun chatting over lunch at the kids’ table, playing some Wii Fit (I learned I am very well balanced on the board), and singing karaoke songs, English and Chinese. I drank a lot of tea and tasted a cool one from Hawaii with a macadamia flavor.

A funny moment came when I first arrived and the host daughter introduced me to my mom, not knowing we were related. 😛 “Why yes, actually, I have met her…” Haha! and here are some shots of the food we enjoyed:

The main attraction: lots and lots of food!

98% biodegradable! That means it's non-toxic and I can just throw it in my compost. Sweet.

You can see the little increments on the compass for Safari and read the letters on the Contacts image!

I never really noticed that those globs along the right side of the Contacts image (as seen on an iPhone 3GS) were meant to be letters until I saw the retina display on the iPhone 4.

Kitty in the window

I was walking by some rooms in Saxon Suites on the UCLA campus when this kitty caught my eye. We’re not supposed to have animals in the rooms, so I wonder if those blinds were supposed to hide the cat, not frame him in the light. Oh how I miss having a cat! I can’t wait until I can get one again, one that will be naughty like this cat and let his curiosity guide him, defying any rules.

That’s what my cat did back in NY. He got us kicked out from a temporary living situation because he peeked through the blinds when management was walking by. We weren’t supposed to have a pet there. So, we had to move into the Hilton in Danbury until our house was ready for move-in. What a naughty little cat.
