Someday, I want a tree like this in my yard so I can watch hummingbirds come feed.

The hummingbird blends in with the flowers on this tree!

I dub it the "hummingtree" since it works just as well as a hummingbird feeder!

I have always wanted to have my own Venus flytraps, but they are hard to come by. So instead I took time to admire the ones at the Huntington Gardens.

These plants are so awesome.

They look so delicate, yet fierce at the same time.

They had this video lens that you could use to look at the plants and show people on a screen.

It caught a mosquito! I wonder why it didn't close though.

Ever wondered how a cilantro leaf gets to be the way it is?  Well, here’s a step by step guide for you!

little cilantro buds about to bloom

First you get the buds...

white cilantro flowers budding

...that bloom into flowers!

thin little cilantro leaves

Then they give way to little, unrecognizable leaves.

cilantro leaves getting thicker

The little leaves start to thicken.

cilantro leaves taking form

Eventually they start to get the shape and form of cilantro leaves.

full-grown cilantro leaves

Finally they look like the leaves you get atop your favorite dish!

very full cilantro leaves

They get to a point where they won't get bigger.

dying cilantro leaves turning yellow

After awhile they begin to die and lose their coloring.

dead cilantro leaves completely wilted

Finally, they end up limp and wilted as they give way to new sprouts.

And the whole life cycle can be seen from top to bottom. 🙂

I wrote about seed paper awhile back and decided to try planting some of my own… major fail! 🙁

Soak it overnight in water.

Then add thin layer of soil.
