power yoga: The Card Set – I haven’t really tried yoga at home, except for one time I led Panda through a sequence and he got tired only half an hour in! I’m not much into watching videos, so I think these cards would be a great way to go through a session. I haven’t practiced yoga in about a year, yikes!

Aura Cacia Clove Bud comforting essential oil – Now I’m not quite sure what clove buds look like, but the scent is definitely a warm type with a type of spice to it. In reading the instructions, I think I will use this for my freshening up my compost bin and garbage disposal. I never would have thought to use it for that, but that’s really cool! If I dig up some of the other essential oils I received from my Homegrown Collective boxes, I can make a nice body rub with grapeseed oil and a mixture of essential oils. But that will probably not happen soon, since I’m pretty great at procrastinating these kinds of projects.

Real Beauty for a Cause sweet orange & cinnamon scrub – I love the sweet, warm, spicy scent of this scrub! It’s very dry compared to other scrubs I’ve seen so it’ll work best directly in the shower when my skin is already wet. I love the simplicity of it.

Buddha Teas Crown Chakra tea – What perfect timing – this tea is designed for the crown chakra, the chakra of self-knowledge. I’m currently on a journey of deeper self-awareness as part of my MBA applications so hey if this tea can help, I’m all for it! Plus I love purple and amethyst, which this tea has been influenced by. I like that it’s a light blend free of caffeine, so I can drink it right now before bed if I want.

Voke Tab Vitalizes pack – I thought that the packaging had one giant tab inside, but turns out that it’s a tin with seven tabs inside. They smell very much like a berry and I will make use of them soon since I’ve been feeling lethargic at work in the afternoons. I like green tea and guarana, so I’m happy to try these in lieu of things I don’t consume, like energy drinks or coffee.

om lavender sachet – This is totally adorable! What a nice little pouch of lavender, in my favorite color no less. I will keep this by my pillow to help me relax before sleeping. I’ve been having trouble getting to sleep lately, so I’m hoping this will help.

Yogi Surprise Giving & Receiving yoga sequence series card – I haven’t yet used these cards we’ve been accumulating, but it’ll be fun to get a whole set much like the power yoga card set from this box. The poses are all about expansion, opening up the heart and stance. Check out their instruction page to download this sequence while it’s available.

I feel very calmed from these products, which is a great way to round out the year. Which of these items would you like to have?

Alright, box number two! I really liked the skincare products and overall festive feel of this box.

prospurly november 2015 box open with products showing prospurly november 2015 info card with product details

Prospurly is just under $45 per box (with code for 10% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with artisan foods, bath & body items, home products, and other sustainably crafted items. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you free boxes.

Bubbles & Botanicals Apple Spice cocoa butter whip – Oh the fluffiness of this whip is delightful! Just a little scoop and you get great moisturization. The apple spice scent is perfect for the holidays and makes me want to snuggle up to a fireplace with hot apple cider. I’m in love.

Leaf Seed Berry Green Apple Essence exfoliating facial toner – From Juice Beauty, I learned about green apple for skincare so this is very appealing. The glass bottle feels luxurious and classy. I think I can smell a bit of the licorice root in there as an undertone to the apple. I love toners because they make me feel so refreshed and cleansed. I might try putting this in a spray bottle to use.

Juniper Earth headache shower bomb – With lavender and eucalyptus, this shower bomb is totally soothing. I love relaxing to lavender scents, so I might keep this by my pillow for awhile. I think it’d be perfect for showering at night, when I don’t want the normal invigorating shower bombs that wake you up. It’s a great size too, so I’m sure it will last me a couple showers!

Pacific Northwest Stationary Studio ROANDNOVA holiday gift card set – This trio of holiday cards seems ripe for framing and keeping around as artwork. There’s a snowflake, pinecone, and reindeer design that are really cool and look like watercolors. The twine gives this a rustic feel and the folds don’t look done by a machine so this set feels artisan. Did they mean to spell stationery with the ‘a’ or should I mention to them the typo?

Sakari Botanicals Sweetgrass Tea – Very interesting that they used a large tea bag for their packaging, but it does not appear that you actually brew the tea directly in the bag. I’ve never had sweetgrass, so I look forward to brewing this at work next week. We’ve been having internet issues so it seems that every morning we end up losing connectivity and going home to finish up the day. I like to have hot drinks at work since it tends to be cold for us cold-blooded folk.

Yes It’s Pure Elderberry Boost herbal tonic – I was first introduced to tonics in a Homegrown Collective box. I didn’t try it many times, but I’ll give this a shot this season and try a bit a day to help keep my immune system up. It smells sort of like a dried berry I’ve eaten before and the taste is slightly sweet and herbal, I guess. Pretty good, considering its supposed medicinal qualities!

Whiskey Oak Pork & Poultry Seasoning – Ok, first of all, I am obsessed with packaging like this. I haven’t a clue what I’d put in it after I use up the seasoning, but I will treasure the jar, that’s for sure. Am I weird for this obsession? Well anyway, major smokiness to this rub that will certainly give meat a distinct taste. I might try making jerky with this seasoning, now that I have my dehydrator!

I’m a fan of everything in this box and I enjoy the curation of these products. I can’t wait to try them all and embrace the upcoming winter. This rather makes me ready for a snow day! The next theme is “Seasonal Splendor” so I’m sure it will be very holiday-esque. I’m excited to see what comes! What do you think of these products?

I really enjoy all the types of products that I get introduced to. I’m constantly surprised by the yoga-themed things they can find!

breath perception guide – Cool, this is sort of like a meditation guide! I need to make time in my routine to incorporate breathing exercises. You hear about the benefits all the time, but it’s so easy to not do it. Once you get into the habit though, I’m sure it will be worth it.

Banyan Botanicals Nasya Oil – I don’t know what it is about sticking something up my nose, but I’m a bit apprehensive. I guess it’s because I’d heard of those yeti pots where people could get their noses infected if not used properly. It just seems to vulnerable to put oil in my nose. Is that odd? I will have to get used to this idea before I can try it out. Let me know if you’ve done it before!

Laughing Giraffe pumpkin spice snakaroons – Ok, I’m not much into this kind of macaroon. There’s just too much coconut for me. At least these were moist, which I like much better than the drier kind that some brands make. It does feel healthy though, so I might pop one or two in the morning on my way to work.

sibu beauty sea buckthorn age defying eye cream – I love this brand, which I first discovered from Yuzen many years ago. I’ve never tried their eye cream, so this will be perfect! Sea buckthorn is such a cool product and their soap smells heavenly. I do have quite a backlog of eye creams though, so I won’t this just yet.

Yummy Yogi cookie cutter – What, a cookie cutter yogi? Haha, never would have thought of this one. I think I’ve only used cookie cutters once, so I’m debating if I will save this as a gift or try making cookies with this cookie cutter. I’ll sit on it a bit before deciding.

Yuni Instant Shower Sheet wipes – I’m all about body wipes to quickly refresh without the whole shower thing. Once I get in a shower, I never want to come out, so I kind of dislike the idea right now since it’s such a time suck. Now I don’t plan on replacing my showers with these, but at least they can keep me fresh in between them. Certainly great to have after working out (not that I do :-P).

Yogi Surprise Cultivating Gratitude yoga sequence series card – I’ve been out of yoga practice for a long time and I’m not sure when I’ll pick it up again, but when I do, these cards will come in handy. Be sure to swing by the instruction page to download this sequence before it’s replaced by the next one. And erm, if you downloaded last month’s could you share that with me? I must have forgotten…

This was a pretty good box and certainly showed me a ton of new products. Which of these items would you like to have?

I saw this box from an email I got from Conscious Box and I couldn’t resist. From previous boxes, I saw fun things like a desktop garden kit and mule mugs that caught my attention in particular. I could hardly wait for the first box to come!

Prospurly is just under $45 per box (with code for 10% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with artisan foods, bath & body items, home products, and other sustainably crafted items. Honey Girls paleo chocolate chip cookie mix – You can’t quite tell from the picture, but the jar feels rather empty. It’s just a little over half full from the look of it and I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be the portion size, but it seems a bit small. Still, I look forward to trying this and comparing to all the other cookie mixes I’m used to using. It’s expensive for my taste though.

benescentials aromatherapy spray in Fall Into Winter – Ooo, this is a lovely scent of fall that is just wonderful. It’s very unique compared to most aromatherapy I’ve tried and so perfect for the season. I like how on their Etsy listing, they list how each ingredient is supposed to make you feel and what the intended benefits are. All aromatherapy is quite soothing to me but I like knowing if it’s more energizing or calming so I can plan to use them at different times.

Skin Nutrition from nature with love pumpkin lotion – I’ve never had a pumpkin lotion before and I love the warmth with a hint of spice that this one gives. I feel like I’m in a kitchen that’s making pumpkin-flavored everything. The lotion feels great and is really moisturizing. This little bottle will be perfect to keep at one of my various lotion spots: in the car, at my desk, by the bed…

Valentina’s Home-Brewed Protection Magickal Mineral Bath Salts – I have bath salts in another scent from this brand and I’m happy to try out a different variety! I like that these are basically single-use packs, though I’ll probably use just half at a time. Looks like I’m going to have to draw up a bath in the coming days, just so I can try this out.

The Suds Cafe pumpkin spice goat’s milk soap – First of all, this bar of soap is fun to look at. I love when they do layering with different textures and colors. I feel like it makes it more fun to use that way! I just recently opened up a bar of soap to use but I might swap that out for this one since this would be a great time of year to smell like pumpkins.

Bliss Pharm Harvest Moon hand sanitizer – You know, I don’t think I’ve really used hand sanitizer sprays. I’ve had wipes and those gel bottles, but I’m liking this misting action. Plus it smells so much better than those “clean” scents that just make me think of bathrooms. I’ll have to keep this bottle handy with me – I know I’m going to enjoy using it all the time.

Skin Nutrition from nature with love pumpkin spice lip balm – Cool, pumpkin spice lip balm! If it’s anything like the lotion from this brand then I’m in for a very sweet treat. I’m debating if I should open it up since I have so many lip balms in use already. For now I’ll keep it sealed and try to use up the ones I’ve had for longer.

Tin Pony Soap House Cinnamon Whiskey soy candle – Whoa, I wasn’t sure about the whiskey part but I do like the scent of this candle. Unfortunately, Panda does not and claims that the cats wouldn’t either (they didn’t seem to mind when I left it open). I might have to burn this in a room that he won’t be going to, or gift it to someone who can burn it in their home. I love the jar and I’m happy it’s a soy candle.

Cool, my first box from them and I’m quite pleased with the very seasonal products that fit “The Harvest” theme and definitely feel like locally crafted fare. I do hope for more unique home items in future boxes, since I’ve got plenty of candles. The upcoming theme is The Gift of Gratitude, which I’m sure will have some Thanksgiving-esque items. Maybe a small cornucopia? A desktop turkey? I hope it’s something that really impresses me. What do you think of these products?

The Jiva Shop headband – This is a super slick headband made of a slightly elastic material that feels very cool to the touch. I can definitely see it keeping me cool and wicking away sweat as promised.

Meraki healing body balm in Lavender Geranium – I like the sweet scent of this and the healing properties. It’s the perfect product to use in the colder months to keep my skin in tip top shape.

Urban Oreganics anti aging facial mask – I quite enjoy these powder masks that you hydrate on your own. A little is all you need, so they last forever and can travel easily if necessary.

Yogi Surprise hand towel – Cool! My favorites are always these random useful items. It helps that this is my favorite color too. I might take it to work to use in lieu of paper towels after I wash my hands.

Essential Living Foods coconut chips – These are plain chips that would go well on top of or mixed with various other snacks. On its own it’s a bit bland for me, but I look forward to adding it to other snacks for a boost.

Paleo Simplified energy bar in Pecan Pie – Now I’m not into diets, so this whole paleo thing is not my cup of tea, but I’m not opposed to something tasting like a pecan pie! I’ll save this for a trip when I need a boost.

Yogi Surprise Celebrate Life yoga sequence series card – This is the third card of the series and it goes through poses to open the heart. As before, the instruction page has a downloadable version – hurry and claim it before they update to next month’s!

All great items and many of the types I really like to use. What will they think of next? Which of these products do you like from this box?

Yogi Surprise September 2015 review

Alright, first subscription box of the month. I’ve whittled it down to just four now, so I appreciate each one all the more.

Yogi Surprise is just under $36 per box (with code for 20% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with yoga gear, skincare, food, and other lifestyle products. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you free boxes.

Gaiam yoga mat sling – What a nice, simple tool to easily transport a yoga mat to and from class. I currently have a yoga bag that is quite well-ventilated and does the job, but this will be handy to have when I need to save on space.

Molly Muriel Butter Up soap – I feel pretty familiar with this brand now that I’ve received multiple samples and full size soaps of theirs. The other Butter Up bar I got was from Escape Monthly box this January. I like how gentle and foamy it is with just a mild scent. I wouldn’t have minded receiving one of their other soaps, but I’m happy with this.

All Good Coconut Sunstick – I find rubbing solid formulas like this a lot of fun. A little goes a long way and I end up smelling like a delicious snack! This will be perfect to bring along on travel without worrying about airline liquid limitations.

philosophie Berry Bliss vegan protein & superfood powder – Erm, I’m not really sure how to consume this. Can I just mix with water or would that taste awful? They have a smoothie recipe on the back, but I don’t really make those so perhaps I will try mixing this in with my morning yogurt.

Yogi Surprise Rooting Down yoga sequence series card – Here’s the second card of the series, with a focus on grounding and having a strong foundation. The instruction page has been updated for this month’s sequence so you can download the PDF and view the poses, but no video this time.

Urban Moonshine Joy Tonic – I first came across this brand in another Yogi Surprise box and this is one of their other products. This is supposed to help with anxiety and bring a sense of calm and peace.

Big Dipper Wax Works Citronella tea light candles – What timing! The Homegrown box just came with ingredients to make my very own citronella candle so these are perfect to have as well. I like to keep the porch door open for the cats, so I will try keeping a candle burning near that area to see if it prevents mosquitoes from making their way inside.

Caveman Cookies in Original – Wow, I tried just tasting one but it was surprisingly addictive and I ate the entire cookie. I like how it’s sort of like an oatmeal cookie combined with a soft energy bar in its texture. It’s very chewy and moist. Great little snack to pop in your bag for whenever you need extra energy or to stave off hunger.

I’ll get around to trying each of these and expand my horizons a bit. I like the mix of product types! What products do you want to try from this box?

This box was waiting for me when I got home from my trip! It’s eclectic and offers some cool stuff.

SunBiotics chocolate almonds – These are very crunchy, with a mild cocoa flavor. They’re coated in powder, so it wasn’t quite the type of chocolate almonds I thought. They’re pretty tasty and make for a great healthy snack. Since they’re raw and have added probiotics, it should help with digestion as well.

Aura Cacia Revive body cloths – Ooo, what nice wipes for the body! These are perfect for a quick refreshing cleaning on a hot day or after a workout. I don’t want to open them just yet so they don’t dry out, but I can’t wait to try them.

My Tat inspiring temporary tattoos – If I ever want to show off my yoga lifestyle, I can put one of these one. There’s a nice collection of yoga symbols to decorate your body with.

African turquoise bracelet – They seem to really like including bracelets now – this is my fourth from them! Each one is made with something different, but they are similar in that they’re composed of beads. I might keep some for myself and I might give others away.

Yogi Surprise Fire to the Core yoga sequence series card – This is a new initiative that they’re doing and I think it’s a great way to tie in yoga to the box more. This cute little card reminds you of the sequence they put together and you can also check out the special page highlighting the full sequence complete with video.

Jem raw & organic Cinnamon Red Maca almond spread – Next time we have bagels in the office, I will give this a try. I might not like the almond taste as a spread, but the cinnamon could mask that. If that doesn’t work, I’m sure my coworkers can help me eat this.

Neelu Kaur Yogini Bliss – I can’t pick out the scents comprising this, but it’s a nice blend of essential oils and smells sweet and slightly minty. It’s great for breathing in to relax and clear your mind.

There were some great new items in this box that I look forward to using. I’m glad to see the item count back up again, which gives me a chance to try more products. Which of these items do you like most?

Whoa, the first third of the month (I got the box around the 10th) went by so fast I didn’t realize it was time for this box again! I guess it’s because I was just getting my bearings after returning from a trip west.

Yogi Surprise is just under $36 per box (with code for 20% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with yoga gear, skincare, food, and other lifestyle products. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you free boxes.

Aura Cacia sweet orange & peppermint motivating yoga mist – This smells great – sweet, citrusy, and minty. It’s nice to spray in the air for a relaxing environment. One of the cats was really interested when we were spraying it!

zhena’s gypsy tea coconut chai green tea – I’ve seen this brand and wanted to try it, so this will be a great opportunity. I like that it’s organic and fair trade. The tin has 22 sachets, so that will last me quite awhile.

Acure cell stimulating face mask – I’m a fan of this brand, so I’m happy to get this mask. I love all the plants they used to create it and the instructions are really cute: “Apply evenly over the face until you look like a green sea-monster.” 🙂

Gaiam dual-grip headband – What a cool headband! I’ve never had one with two bands like this, which is a nice design. I like that it feels more secure than a single band, plus it’s in my favorite color!

Tiger’s Eye Buddha charm bracelet – I’m getting quite a collection of bracelets now and this one has an adorable little Buddha charm. Tiger’s Eye is such a cool type of stone that catches light in a really unique way. Looks like I should start wearing more jewelry.

While there weren’t many items in the box, there were some really solid products that I will use. I do hope they don’t lean on the jewelry part to try to bring up the “value” of the box. I’d much rather see 7-8 items than one large ticket item. Which products do you want?

It was pouring rain when I got home and found this box on the stoop. It got pretty wet, but everything inside was ok!

Yogi Surprise is just under $36 per box (with code for 20% off your subscription – use my referral links from this post) and comes with yoga gear, skincare, food, and other lifestyle products. Boxes are sent monthly with no option to skip. They offer a referral program that earns you free boxes.

Natural Fitness hemp yoga strap – This is a nice strap that feels soft and thick. It’s strong and long, with very sturdy metal buckles. Between this and the other yoga strap we got, I’m all set for classes! I will also use them to help with stretches at home.

Mind Over Lather yoga mat spray – What a refreshingly clean scent! Perfect for cleaning off my mat. It’s a really large bottle too, so it’ll last me a good, long time. I might transfer some to a smaller bottle so it’s not quite so heavy to carry around.

Yoga Gangsters Truthful Mist – I don’t quite get this energy mist thing, but I sprayed and inhaled it as recommended. I think it’s nice for being a face mist of sorts. This particular scent isn’t my ideal, but it’s different so I think it’ll offer a nice change of scenery from the usual lavenders and citruses I have.

Gaiam Super Grippy yoga gloves – Fascinating product here, which certainly helps make it easier to keep your hands in place. I would like a pair of similar socks to use and then I can practice yoga on any smooth floor!

Bearded Brothers bar – I’ll be saving this for before or after a workout when I feel like I need a boost. Today I ate a bar before running and thank goodness! I probably would have passed out otherwise.

Jade Tree of Life bracelet – Aww this is cute. I like the delicate pendant hanging off the bracelet. I wear a solid jade bracelet, so I might try pairing them together. I can also use it for meditation like meditation beads. 🙂

Another box I’ll make good use of for the most part. Some items are more of a novelty sort of thing, but others are really practical. What do you think?

I’m seeing some familiar brands! There are some nice reusable items too, that will last a long time to come. Let’s get ready for summer with this box…

Luv Superfoods almond beegan-bites – These look like fun little chocolate cups, though I’m hesitant to try them because they’re raw and vegan so I’m not sure about their flavor. I will definitely eat them though, since they should really pack a nice punch of energy.

Moon Valley Organics Peppermint Foot Rub – Much like the Rejuvenating Rub that came a few months ago, this is a minty tube of cream that smells great. It melts with your body temperature and just a little is enough to cover a lot of skin. I don’t quite feel the mint on my feet so I would have liked more of the cooling effect, but it sure does leave my feet nice and soft.

Star Essence Yoga Mind Mouth Mist – Haha! I had just mentioned the mouth mist I’d gotten when we got a different spray from this brand in my very first Yogi surprise box. So now I have another one, which works since my original is back at my parents’ home.

Tea Tibet Harmony Spiced Tea – Oh yay! Definitely excited about this tea since I don’t usually have spiced ones and I enjoy tea of all kinds. I’ll take this to work to drink since it’s always cold there and I end up drinking a ton of hot water or tea throughout the day.

Tibetan prayer flags – These will be a nice decoration to put up in one of the rooms. We don’t really buy things to put up or on display, so this will help spruce up the place.

Yogi necklace with Om pendant – I don’t typically wear large pendants like this, but I’ll try it out and see how I feel. I can always gift it to someone!

I’ll try to make good use of all the items here. We’ll see how it goes – I can always share if I’m not a fan.
